Crystal Gaze “QuickDemo” contest
We know that many of you may have been using Flex 4, FlashBuilder 4, ColdFusion Builder and FlashCatalyst since their beta days. So here is a chance for you to participate in our “QuickDemo” contest. All you have to do is plan for a 5-minutes demo that you can showcase during CrystalGaze.
Your demo should involve walking through some code (which you may have written a priori) using the relevant Adobe tools. Your demo need not be about the app itself, but it could be more to showcase a cool feature of the relevant Adobe tool.
If you are interested write your proposal in the comments section. To encourage your active participation in this, Adobe evangelists plan to give away some cool Adobe merchandize for those who demo. The last date for submitting your proposal is April 3.
Hurry up and submit your proposal soon.

Flex Bootcamp at Anand Institute of Technology
This is the second bootcamp overall and first for this month. This time it is Anand Institute of Technology, Chennai. The event was organized by RIA-RUI society and Griffinn Education.
The event started at 10:30 AM. First to speak was the HOD of CSE dept. He welcomed the Flex community and the society.
10:45 AM: Ananth started his session on “Introduction to RIA & Flash Platform” pretty quickly. He made the session interesting and engaging.
11:15 AM: Ananth completed his session. Next session was the hands-on session by me. It was supposed to start by this time. But because of few technical problems hands-on session delayed.
11:45 AM: Finally hands-on session started. I gave a quick introduction to Flex and started developing a sample application straight away. I choose to develop a simple “Photo Gallery” application.
12:00 AM: I completed the application with just 10 lines of code. When i tried to run the application Flex Builder warned me that the browser does not have Flash Player 9. I was shocked because Flex installation should have installed the required Flash Player. So had to troubleshoot the problem
12:15 PM: Showed the application to students in groups. I explained them about the application line by line. Interacted with them and answered few questions.
12:45 PM: It was time to say good bye to the students.
Overall the bootcamp was a great learning experience for the community. I am sure that we will do more great stuffs in the upcoming bootcamps
